1988 Ireland Dublin Millennium Fifty Pence (50p) coin cupronickel proof in case of issue superb quality.

A frosted proof copro-nickel fifty pence coin has been struck to commemorate the Dublin Millenium. This is the first Irish coin to be struck in commemoration of such event.

The obverse, as is usual with Irish coins, features the harp. The reverse of the coin features a special design by Mr. Thomas Ryan, President of the Royal Hibernian Academy. His design is based on the Coat of Arms of the City of Dublin and the Coat of Arms of the Lord Major of Dublin. It portrays a shield with three castles over a mace, sword and capf maintenance.

Each coin is struck in an alloy of 75% copper and 25% nickel. Each weighs 13.5 grammes. The shape in as equilateral curve heptagon, this is severn equal side giving the coin a constant breadth.
