Very Rare 1986 Irish Coin Set Ireland Half Penny Penny 2 5 10 20 50 pence.

1986 Ireland's Coinage

History of Coin Set:

In 1986 the Central Bank produced a specimen set of normally struck uncirculated coins
(often incorrectly referred to as proofs) to coincide with the introduction of the 20 pence coin.
As not all denominations were required in circulation quantities the halfpenny,
the 10 pence and the 50 pence were only minted in small quantities to facilitate the production of these sets.
These denominations and the sets containing them are consequently scarce.

Condition: Overall this coin set is in great condition.
The outside cover has minimal signs of wear, with some very light bends from pushing against the coins.
The coins are all in BU condition. There is some glue leakage that has damaged the cover (see pictures).
This is very common with this particular coin set.

Hi again sm4321,
Just an update. I'm having a bit o difficulty arranging my trip for early next week, but I could definitely make it early the following week, in which case I could pick up the coin set on Monday (the 29th). Would you be able to hold it for me until then? If you want to contact me directly, you can email 'makehoe1000' followed by the 'at sign' and 'gmail.com.' Kind regards, Mike

Hi sm4321,
Very many thanks again for your very prompt response. Hopefully by tomorrow early afternoon (possibly a little later) I'll be able to confirm my plans and flight booking etc. Your caution is justified fully since, as you say, I do not have any feedback on here. This is because this is the first time I've used (or encountered) adverts.ie, but I'm now planning to explore them much more in future. Until tomorrow, Kind regards, Mike

@Jackcat Hi Mike, next week or in a few weeks are all ok for me. I will be available any day you are in Dublin. You don't have any feedback here hence it is difficult for me to hold an item for you. Please message me closer to your arrival and we can arrange the details. Thanks

Hi again sm4321,
Very many thanks for your prompt response - much appreciated. I accept and understand fully your reluctance to promise holding this set for up to 4 weeks, as you cannot be certain when - even if !! - I'll turn up. Nevertheless, I'm really keen on acquiring this set for my collection (a new recent retirement hobby, focusing mainly on Irish coins for heritage reasons). Consequently, I'm now looking into the possibility of bringing my planned visit forward to the early part of next week. Would this help? For example, I could get a Ryanair flight from Newcastle arriving in Dublin just after mid-day on Sunday, and then take a taxi to Castleknock (not far, if I remember correctly?). Might this work? Or are there any other days/times early next week that would be more convenient (or otherwise) for you? In the meantime, if there is any way I could send you a deposit to confirm my interest, I'd be happy to do so. Looking forward to hearing from you, Kind regards, Mike

@Jackcat hi Mike

Message me when you are in Dublin (or a few days before). If still available then I will sell it to you. I can't promise to hold onto it for you.

Thanks

Hello sm4321,
Would you be willing to hold onto this set for me for about 2 to 4 weeks until I'm in Dublin again? I could then collect and pay in cash as requested and would be happy to pay a bit more (to be agreed) than the full asking price for the delay/inconvenience. I live in the middle of Northumberland in Northern England and am planning to visit relatives in Dublin in the coming weeks.
Kind regards, Mike
