Historical Significance: Introduced in 1982, the Italian 500 Lire was the world's first modern bimetallic coin produced for circulation, featuring Braille lettering on the outer ring.
Obverse (Front): Features a profile head of a woman symbolizing the Italian Republic (Repubblica Italiana) with winged hair, engraved by Laura Cretara.
Reverse (Back): Depicts the Piazza del Quirinale in Rome with the statue of Castor and Pollux, the date 1983, value L. 500, and Braille reading "L. 500" at the top outer rim.
