1928 Irish Penny "1d, Pingin", Key Date

Excellent collectors coin or Slip this into a new wallet/purse to make a fabulous gift. A 1928 Irish Penny in a very high grade Condition, an old coin which still holds excellent detail. Key date as 1928 was the first issue date of the Irish free state Penny.
The penny (1d, pingin) coin was the third smallest denomination of the pre-decimal Irish pound. The penny was abbreviated to 1d, from the Roman denarius. It was introduced in 1928 to replace the British penny. The last year of minting was 1968 and it ceased to be legal tender on 31 December 1971.
