1797 King George III "Cartwheel" Copper One Penny Coin

▪︎ Antique 1797 British One Penny issued during the reign of King George III. Famously known as the "Cartwheel " Penny, due to its iconic raised rim, this piece holds a massive place in history. It weighs exactly 1 Ounce ( Approx 28g ) and measures 36mm across. These were minted at Matthew Boultons famous Soho Mint using pioneering steam-powered technology.

• Obverse (Front) : Features the right facing laureate portrait of King George III. The outer rim inscription "GEORGIUS III D:G • REX " is visible.
• Reverse (Back) : Displays the iconic seated figure of Britannia holding her trident, with the word "BRITANNIA " clearly embossed along the top of the wide rim.

Condition Note
This piece Features a heavily weathered, deep earthy patina with natural surface pitting and corrosion from spending a long time underground. It has a beautiful raw "Metal Detecting Find" aesthetic that gives it incredible character. No artificial cleaning has been attempted to preserve its historic state.
