PRICE DROP Barrell and Gunn "The Rough with the Smooth" Coffee Table
Beautiful coffee table, very unique. 1200mm long, 600mm wide, 450mm high.
This is the story of the various materials used from when we ordered. "The current batch of Rough with the Smooth coffee tables on Seasonal Special are made from Douglas Fir and White Ash posts and lintels salvaged from a large farmhouse near Bantry, Co Cork dating from the 1930s.
The steel element of the Rough with the Smooth coffee table - a solid metal frame - is made from reconditioned 10mm steel flat stock taken from Irish Rail line strapping from the Dublin-Waterford line. We were unable to find a recorded installation date but estimate based upon archived maintenance schedules and reports that it was first installed circa 1942-5. The steel is reconditioned by sandblasting and is lightly millscaled before sealing with a clearcoat, eco-friendly lacquer which preserves the patina of the metal, arrests existing distressing from rust etc, and allows for cleaning without removing the industrial look of the piece.
Was bought for a particular house that fell through and is too big for our current property.
Collection must be arranged by the purchaser as the table is very heavy, would probably require a van or trailer. Unit is about 60-70kg.
