A beautiful example of Irish Mid century design.
Designed by Arthur Edwards for Crannac by John Hogg & Company Navan, Co, Meath.
In 1945 John Hogg and Co. Ltd furniture manufacturer was founded. In 1961 the firm employed Arthur Edwards, a designer of much renown. He designed the ‘Crannac’ range. The word Crannac is derived from the Irish word for a little copse or wood. The finish was not stained or varnished but oil finished by hand which preserved the natural features of the wood.
Edwards designed contemporary furniture in the 1960s that was strongly influenced by Scandinavian design.
This is an excellent example of mid century Danish inspired design. The magnificent tones of the solid teak are warm and deep. This piece is in excellent mid century condition.
