Vintage English clock with an embroidered dial Vintage English clock with an embroidered dial Clocks & Scientific Instruments

Vintage English clock featuring a floral *petit point* (fine needlepoint) embroidered dial. Such desk and mantel clocks were highly popular decorative items for dressing tables and bedrooms in Great Britain during the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s.
The most renowned manufacturer of clocks with these embroidered inserts was the British brand Regent of London, although the movements were often supplied by well-known makers such as Smiths or Metamec. These clocks frequently bear the mark "Made in England" on the dial and "Made in Scotland" on the back of the winding mechanism housing.
They feature an ornate brass frame—often with a distinctive handle or finial at the top—integrated with intricate hand- or machine-stitched embroidery depicting colorful flowers (including roses and cornflowers).
Typically, they were part of larger, luxury vanity sets that included matching hairbrushes, hand mirrors, trays, and jewelry boxes featuring the same embroidered motif.
The clock is in full working order.
