Rare Antique Dublin Scientific / Mechanical Demonstration Apparatus J. Robinson & Sons, Grafton Street
A truly unique antique piece connected to Dublin’s scientific and commercial history.
This beautiful hand-cranked mechanical apparatus carries its original maker/retailer plaque:
J. Robinson & Sons
65 Grafton Street
Dublin
J. Robinson & Sons were known in Dublin for optical, photographic and scientific instruments, making this a very special piece with strong local historical interest.
The apparatus is made from wood, brass and metal, with a hand crank, wheel, belt drive and toothed mechanical wheel. It has a wonderful aged patina and sculptural industrial look. Whether originally used as a teaching, demonstration or scientific display piece, it now makes a striking decorative object.
A fantastic statement piece for:
• office / study
• creative studio
• reception area
• library
• collector’s cabinet
• interior design display
• Dublin history enthusiast
• scientific / engineering collector
It has real character and presence — not a reproduction, not a modern decorative item, but an authentic antique object with age, texture and history.
Condition is vintage/antique, with wear, oxidation and patina consistent with age. Please see photos carefully. I have not cleaned or restored it, as the original untouched character is part of its charm.
Approximate size shown in photos with measuring tape.
A rare opportunity to own a distinctive piece of old Dublin history — elegant, unusual and full of conversation value.
