Rare 19th-century 1867 until 1889 French Architectural Mantel Clock by Samuel Marti, Enamel Dial In Working Condition,
Rare 19th-century 1867 until 1889 French Architectural Mantel Clock by Samuel Marti, In Working Condition, Dial: Enamel face with black Roman numerals and a decorative brass bezel surrounding the clock face. The Maker: While the faint lettering within the circle is obscured by the camera's angle and surface patina, the specific size, positioning, and style perfectly correspond to highly sought-after French workshop finisher Samuel Marti, The Date Baseline: Samuel Marti was awarded this Bronze Medal at the major Paris Exhibition in 1860. The workshop stamped reproductions of this medal onto their clock movements from 1867 until 1889 The brass relief features a classical female face wearing a stylized helmet or headdress. In 19th-century French architectural styling, this represents Athena (Minerva in Roman mythology), the goddess of wisdom, warfare, and handicraft. There is a distinct greenish-blue powdery buildup around the edges of the brass face. This is verdigris, a natural form of oxidization that occurs when copper-based alloys (like brass or bronze) react to moisture and air over decades, Collection Only, please view photos for Measurements, , as these are old they will have ware from age or use, please view photos for condition and description, Lots more Antiques and Collectables including Oil Lamps in my other ads, Collection is always welcome and recommended in Rochfortbridge Westmeath, Payment by Revolut, Bank Transfer or PayPal as a friend only, click the link below to see my other items for sale, lots more Antiques, Collectibles, I'll be adding a lot more antiques in the next few days
