This is a French Antonin Faugere Comtoise or Morbier wall clock, likely dating from the mid to late 19th century.
Origin: These clocks were handmade in the Franche-Comté region of France, specifically around Morez and Morbier, from the late 17th century until the early 20th century. Movement: It features a traditional 8-day mechanical movement with an anchor escapement, typically striking a large bell on the hour and often repeating the hour strike a few minutes later. Design: The clock face is likely enamel, housed within an elaborately crafted, embossed brass or pressed metal surround featuring floral and foliate motifs. Pendulum: The large, decorative pendulum is a signature feature of Comtoise clocks, often made of thin sheet brass with relief patterns.
