Louis XVI-style gilt settee and armchair, tapestry upholstery
Louis XVI-style carved giltwood salon suite: a three-seat settee and a matching open armchair.
Features:
- Carved ribbon-bow crest on each back
- Fluted, tapered legs with carved rosette corner blocks (6 legs on the settee)
- Beaded and leaf-carved frames with scrolled, carved arm ends
- Padded armrests
- Brass nailhead trim
- Woven tapestry upholstery in cream with soft rose and green tones: a pastoral scene on each back and floral bouquets on the seats
Condition: solid and usable. The upholstery needs cleaning. The settee back has a water stain and a crack in the top rail at the rear. There are small losses to the gold finish on the arm fronts. Please see all photos.
I believe the suite is a 20th-century reproduction. It is not a period antique.
