A late Victorian porter’s chair in solid pine complete with its original domed hood and hand cut dovetailed storage drawer.

Solid pine throughout
High domed hooded back (designed to retain warmth)
Vertical boarded interior
Shaped scroll arms
Integrated lower storage drawer with dovetail joints and turned knob
Lovely mellow honey pine tone
Fantastic presence and proportions
In excellent condition with only minor age related marks.
148cm high.
72cm wide
67cm deep.
Seat height is 45cm excluding cushion.

Hi. That’s my mistake. The dovetails have been cut by hand and the marks left by hand saw can be seen.

Hi, just curious if the piece is Victorian era how was the dovetail joint cut by machine? What machines existed then to cut dovetail joints?
