Description
A small antique Pokerwork corner chair lavishly decorated and dating from the late 19th century. Clearly artisan made as a decorative and functional piece.A rare example of a very high quality piece of antique furniture.
There was a rise in popularity for the decorative arts between 1870 and 1910 and later coinciding with the Art Nouveau movement. The seat and backrest are decorated using the burning technique known as Pokerwork or Pyrography, creating a detailed Arts & Crafts influenced by floral and decorative motifs.
