Federal Moonglow is a classic glassware series introduced by the renowned American glassware manufacturer, the Federal Glass Company, in the mid-to-late 20th century (around the 1960s to 1970s). Renowned for its visual appeal, the collection remains highly sought after.
The sugar bowl is in good vintage condition. The luster coating is intact which is rare as constant hard washing will dull the luster. There is a very thin scratch about an inch long but you can hardly see it unless you tilt the bowl. It is really in good condition for its age the luster is perfect.
The glass surface is coated with a special lustrous/iridescent layer. As light falls across it or as the viewing angle changes, the surface shifts with hazy yet vivid hues reminiscent of rainbows, mother-of-pearl, or floating ink— giving the series its named "Moonglow.
The Federal Glass Company was established in Ohio in 1900. The logo of an F inside a shield was established in 1932. The company closed in 1979.
