Vintage 1970s hand-finished ceramic frog sponge scrubby holder, signed GJ, maker unknown.
Lovely vintage ceramic frog with a huge open mouth
A quirky retro piece, most likely made as a kitchen sponge / scrubby holder. It would also look great used as a little planter, trinket holder or simply displayed on a shelf.
It has a really unusual beige and dark speckled glaze with glossy black detailing and lots of character. The underside is hand signed “GJ” – I haven’t been able to confirm the maker, so selling as an unidentified signed vintage pottery piece.
Likely dates from around the 1970s.
Very good vintage condition with some age-related wear.
A brilliant piece for anyone who loves frogs, retro kitchens, vintage ceramics or unusual kitsch décor.
