For sale is a merchandise / promotional Tetley Tea mug showing three of their well-known Tetley Tea Folk characters. From left to right they are:

GORDON - holding the tray. Gordon is the grandfather figure of the Tetley Tea Folk and likes to look after the Tetley Tea garden. Gordon was first introduced in a 1989 TV advert.

GAFFER - is the head of the Tetley Tea Folk and in 1973 was the first of the characters to be introduced.

SYDNEY - is the second oldest of the Tetley Tea Folk since first appearing in a TV advert in 1975. He is a kind and gentle fellow, who is a little bit clumsy and not the brightest of the Tetley Tea Folk.

DESCRIPTION:
Size: about 3 9/16" x 3 1/8” O.D. excluding the handle (90mm x 80mm).
Material(s): white earthenware.
Finish: screen printed in 5 colours onto a clear vitreous glaze.
Imprint: KILNCRAFT STL ENGLAND - Kilncraft (Staffordshire Tableware Ltd) established after a management buy-out of Coloroll and sold on to Biltons in 1994.
Approximate age: 1990 to 1994.

CONDITION:
Very good condition. No damage. Some light staining on inside base due to some crazing in the glaze.
