For sale is an attractive and colourful ceramic planter that was hand-made, hand-painted and is signed "T. Ruth Mex" (Mexico). This planter is of the Televera Pottery style and is made of red earthenware with a milky-white tin glaze.

Televera pottery was first made in Spain during the 15th century and later brought over to Mexico during their colonial period. This piece conforms to the fabric of Televera pottery wares. Today, Televera pottery is still made in Mexico and is characterised by it Majolica-like wares made of red terracotta with its crazed tin glazes. Their pottery is all hand-made and hand-painted in bright colours using a limited but specific pallette of colours.

DESCRIPTION:
Size: about 5 3/8" across at top x 2 1/2" across at the base x 3 1/8" height (137mm x 62mm x 79mm).
Material(s): red earthenware (terracotta).
Finish: hand-printed 3 colours process and fired to give an overall glaze.
Imprint: signed by T. RUTH MEX
Weight (excluding transit packaging): about 325g

CONDITION:
Very good condition. No damage, Glaze crazing is normal with Talavera pottery. Some wear to the unglazed terracotta on the underside foot but does not detract from its appearance.
