Sysert Porcelain Figurine |with Muff
The town of Sysert has been for many years a center of ceramic production based on clay mined on the banks of the Sysert River, supplying the local area with pottery and artistic ceramics. The company has gone through a number of name changes and produced toys during world war two rather than ceramics. In the 1960s the factory concentrated on porcelain production. In 1963-64 new artists and technologists made a significant contribution to the development and direction of the factory and the pottery started the production of tea and coffee sets, vases and figurines, including small figurines.
On October 10, 1977 the plant was renamed into the Sysert Artistic Porcelain Factory. The plant became one of four enterprises in the USSR (Bronnitsy, Mineralnye Vody, Gzhel, Sysert), which were engaged in the production of high quality artistic gift items. Since 2000, the plant began to actively use computer modeling. However, up to 80% of the process still involves manual labour. In 2004, the form of ownership of the enterprise was changed, now it is LLC "Porcelain Sysert".
