Superb Vintage Kitsch Fieldings Crown Devon Large Circular Green Lettuce Leaves Salad/Fruit Bowl with Fabulous Hand-Painted Tomatoes!! Circa 1930+

I am almost at the end of my effort to downsize, not many items left to list! But I have a few more random Kitsch Kitchenalia items!

For sale here is a Superb Vintage Kitsch Fieldings Crown Devon Large Circular Green Lettuce Leaves Salad/Fruit Bowl with Fabulous Hand-Painted Tomatoes!! Circa 1930+

Naturalistically modelled and painted in a bright shade of green (the green is slightly more yellow than the photos show), this dish screams Art Deco and Mid Century Kitsch Chic!
The centre of the bowl is modelled as basketweave (but green) and then graduates into lettuce leaves in the same shade of green. Modelled and hand-painted at three equidistant places on the interior of the bowl, are tomatoes and foliage.

The salad or fruit bowl is in excellent with no chips, cracks or pattern loss. There is just a tiny nibble and a tiny section which missed the glaze and is now darker in colour, as photographed, and some age related crazing. The backstamp says Fieldings Crown Devon Made in England “Trade Mark” Rd Applied For, which dates this to circa 1930+

The bowl dish measures just over 9 inches/23 cm in diameter and stands 3.5 inches/9 cm tall.

S Fielding & Co (Ltd) were a manufacturer of earthenware and majolica at the Railway Pottery, Stoke, Stoke-on-Trent from 1879 until 1982. In 1912 the Railway Works was renamed The Devon Pottery and Fielding developed the famous 'Crown Devon' name.

A fabulous large piece of Lettuce-ware in very good condition for a piece about 90 years old, this is a rare shape which doesn’t come up very often.

This Lettuce-ware and Cabbage-ware is very much in vogue at the moment, grab this before it is gone!

A must for the Drown Devon collector, or the collector of unusual kitsch kitchenalia.

Perfect for display but equally suitable for use as a Fruit Bowl or Salad Bowl.
