I am almost at the end of my effort to downsize, not many items left to list! But I have to clear a few more random bits that I no longer have room to have on display.

For sale here is a Rare & Collectable Eternal Peace Memorial, Gettysburg Pennsylvania Souvenir Plate in Blue and White Transferware, Adams & Sons for JonRoth Importers, Circa 1910+

These Souvenir plates were imported by JonRoth for many different tourist destinations in the USA, from large well-known destinations, to little known, of the beaten track locations.
They are highly collectable these days, as the plates follow a standard design layout, but were produced in so many designs, it’s fun to build a collection!
Most were produced in standard Blue and White, some Pink and White also, and some in full colour. The Mulberry and White (also known as Purple and White or Aubergine and White) was the rarest colourway.

The Plate features as it’s central cartouche The Eternal Peace Memorial, Gettysburg Pennsylvania.
Around the border of the plate are six smaller cartouches featuring other local attractions such as the New York Memorial, Pennsylvania Memorial, High Water Mark Monument, Virginia Memorial, the Soldier’s National Monument and at the top Abraham Lincoln himself.
In between the cartouches are delicate floral motifs.
The underside is unusual as it has nearly as much decoration as the front: It has blue lettering that reads, “DEDICATED TO LINCOLN FELLOWSHIP” and shows the entire Gettysburg Address.

The plate is in excellent antique/vintage condition considering it has a lot of age to it, as it’s anywhere between 70 and 110 years old. No chips, cracks, crazing or pattern loss. It measures 10 inches/ 25 cm in diameter.

I have a similar JonRoth/Adams Mulberry and White Souvenir Plate which I will be listing shortly, so keep an eye out on my other ads!
Discounts possible for multiple purchases!

The History Bit!:
JONROTH were prolific importers of Staffordshire pottery into the USA, from 1909, specialising in blue and pink historical or souvenir designs on the traditional blue (and pink) Staffordshire prints.
In 1884 John H Roth entered the ceramic trade as a clerk for C. E. Wheelock in South Bend, Indiana, U.S.A. Wheelock was an importer, wholesale and retail dealer in art pottery, fine china and cut glassware; sourcing ware particularly from Germany & Austria. Wheelock imported pictorial souvenir plates from many central European manufacturers in addition to the English pottery companies of W. H. Goss and R.H. & S.L. Plant.
Evidently John H Roth grew in his position at Wheelock, he had equity in the company and travelled abroad to visit some of the suppliers for example in 1892 he made his first visit to the factory of William Adams & Sons in England.
The business name of John H. Roth & Co. came to be when Roth sold his equity at Wheelocks in 1909 and founded Jonroth Studios, located in Peoria, Illinois as an import company. They contracted with companies in Germany and Japan for pieces with the Jonroth Studio backstamp. At this time, Roth evidently consolidated his supply base to the North Staffordshire Potteries. The principal supplier was William Adams & Sons who Roth had purchased from during his time at Wheelock. The Plate available here is one that was produced by WmAdams & Sons.
