Beautiful Mason's ironstone pot pourri vase in their iconic Blue Mandalay design.
Mason's is a renowned English pottery company with a long history of producing high-quality china and ceramics. The company, originally known as "Mason's Ironstone," was founded by Miles Mason in 1813. Mason was a Staffordshire pottery merchant, and he played a pivotal role in the development and popularisation of ironstone china. Mason's is particularly famous for its transferware patterns, a technique where a design is engraved onto a copper plate, inked, and then transferred onto the ceramic surface.
From the very earliest days, the oriental-inspired design combined with distinctive shapes and superb quality made Mason's Ironstone instantly identifiable and highly collectable. The Mandalay design is a signature Mason's pattern. Created by Charles John Mason, the technically brilliant third son of founder Miles Mason. Its rich cobalt hues, delicate floral motifs, and gilded accents evoke a sense of opulence and refinement. The patterns being hand applied and then finished with hand painted rich enamel colours and extravagant 22-carat gilding. No chips or cracks. Perfect condition.
