Lovely Vintage Willow Pattern Lidded Hot Water Pot By The Sadler Company, Pattern Number 1705

I’m still working on downsizing my collectables and have moved onto some more Willow Pattern and Blue and White Items that are surplus to my collections. I'm making progress but more items need to go!

Here I have a Lovely Vintage Willow Pattern Lidded Hot Water Pot By The Sadler Company, Pattern Number 1705

A hot water pot which is large enough to also be used as a coffee pot, in a nice rendition of the willow pattern, with a gilt trim which is Sadler’s pattern number 1705. This pair would have originally been sold with a matching Teapot and milk creamer and sugar bowl. I still have the milk creamer and sugar bowl and and I have already listed them separately.

James Sadler & Sons (Ltd) were founded in 1882 and were earthenware manufacturers of teapots and other items. They are most famous for their teapot range, which in their heyday included up to 850 different designs!!!!! The Sadler name and design back catalogue were sold to Churchill after the company went into receivership in the year 2000.

The Hot Water Pot is in overall good vintage condition but there is a small chip to the edge of the base as photographed, just minor gilt loss and there is fine all-over age-related crazing present (also photographed). The bottom appears to have the marks of a crack, but it is watertight. Perhaps better used just for display, and it has been priced accordingly.

The pot stands 7 inches/ 18 cm tall. The backstamp is very faint, so I have photographed it beside one of the matching pieces I have, so you can see the info.

The perfect addition to a mix and match Blue and White or Willow Pattern collection, it would look fabulous displayed on a kitchen dresser.
