Large Chinese Cantonese Famille Rose Punch Bowl - 25cm - Court Scene - Seal Mark
DON’T FORGET TO LOOK AT MY OTHER ADS!
A large and richly decorated Chinese Cantonese famille rose punch bowl, hand-painted inside and out in raised enamels with gilt highlights.
The interior centres on a courtyard scene of four court figures in flowing robes on a chequered terrace, framed by an iron-red and white balustrade with a flowering garden beyond. Around it runs a dense "thousand flowers" ground of pink peonies, blossoms and butterflies, with ribboned scholar's objects and a rim band of shaped white panels painted with flowers and butterflies.
The exterior carries a matching figural panel of three court figures and a panel of peonies and chrysanthemums, set on the same flower ground, with an iron-red floral scroll band to the foot.
Iron-red six-character Qianlong seal mark to the base (apocryphal).
A striking display or centrepiece bowl, with the full Cantonese vocabulary of court scene, butterflies and peonies in one piece.
Size: approx. 25cm diameter × 12cm high.
Condition: gilt wear to the rim and foot, and light wear to the enamels, consistent with display and handling. "No chips, cracks or restoration found",
