Genuine Antique English Stoneware Chinoiserie Jug and Cake Plate
Paired together these would make beautiful display items or could be used today as intended!
Keeling & CO. Losolware Shanghai Pattern Jug, Vase or Water Carafe.
It is a superb example of the pattern that incorporates a navy blue printed outline of an oriental pheasant and stylised peonies hand enamelled in orange, sky blue, browns and green. The handle is coloured in deep navy blue. The backstamp and pattern date the piece to circa 1910/20 I think. Early Art Deco. The jug has angular features. The factory was only in production for a short period - between 1886 and 1936. The addition of "England" and "Ltd" to the backstamp indicates a date after 1909. The Jug looks good on display and is internally clean and sound so could easily be used. Looks stunning on wooden furniture

Hicks & Meigh "Imari" Handled Cake Plate
Hicks & Meigh 1806-1822 English Stoneware Imari Patterned Cabinet Plate dates from circa 1818. So bang in the Regency period. There is no back stamp which wasn’t unusual and is typical of Hicks and Meigh.
The slightly oblong plate is finely made and based on oriental china with raised gadrooned edges and beautifully printed and hand painted with a typical Imari scene set. The plate is highlighted with gilding.
In good original condition but has had extensive repairs in its life. Has been “glued” or stapled with brass tacks. These add rather than detract to the authenticity. It was worth saving over 100 years ago and is a splendid item! Usable cake or sandwich plate for light use on special occasions.
