I am continuing my effort to downsize as unfortunately we will have to move all our belongings into temporary storage due to builders carrying out major remediation works to our brand new home.

For sale here is a Fabulous Vintage Retro Mid-Century-Modern Swedish Art Glass Hand-Blown Tall Red “Jack in the Pulpit” or “Bone” Vase with a Clear Glass Weighted Foot, with Controlled Bubbles, by Åseda Glasbruk, Sweden, circa 1960

This beautiful vintage bud vase from the 1960s is a stunning piece of art glass from the renowned Aseda Glasbruk and it’s referred to a “Jack in the Pulpit” or “Bone” Vase. I have also seen the shape referred to as the Calla Lily vase. The name Jack in the Pulpit refers to this shape of vase that has a lip pulled down at the front and raised at the back and is inspired by a flower of the same name. These vases can be seen in the book "Scandinavian Glass - Fire & Sea" by Leslie Pina, page 80.

Åseda Glassworks was founded in 1947 in the south of Sweden. It was active until 1977 and is best known for its colourful art glass. Åseda Glasbruk's chief designer was Bo Borgstrom, who graduated from Stockholm's Swedish School of Arts and Crafts in 1951. Borgstrom was widely acclaimed as a ceramics artist before joining Åseda in 1961.

This lovely example is just under 10 inches/25 cm in height. The large clear glass weighted base with controlled bubbles, gives this tall vase stability. The glass is a lovely vibrant red and it’s red and clear at the lip, and with a clear glass weighted bubbly base.

The vase is in excellent vintage condition with no chips or cracks.

I have found similar smaller vases online selling for up to €60- €80, (see photos), excluding post and packaging, so this one is good value.

An ideal gift for any collector of art glass, particularly someone who collect Swedish MCM Art Glass or Åseda Glasbruk/Bo Borgstrom in particular.

@Bernadette Mulcahy Ah thanks for that❤️ yep, we absolutely love the house, and we had almost completed unpacking all our stuff (we have an awful lot!!!!), only to find out the entire house has to be cleared and all our stuff put into storage, while they remediate the issues. The thoughts of packing again are making me try and downsize! Every cloud!!😊
