Fabulous Vintage Retro Mid-Century-Modern Small Pale Pink Glass Decanter with Gold and Silver Gilt Banding in a Lovely Spherical Shape, Irice, Czechoslovakia

I am almost at the end of my effort to downsize following the house move, not many items left to list! But I have to clear half a cabinet of glassware, so I have some sets of glasses coming up.

For sale here is a Fabulous Vintage Retro Mid-Century-Modern Small Pale Pink Glass Decanter with Gold and Silver Gilt Banding in a Lovely Spherical Shape, Irice, Czechoslovakia

This is a beautiful small decanter suitable for liqueurs such as Cointreau. Or it could also be used as a large perfume bottle for cologne!
It would originally have come with small matching liqueur glasses, but I only ever had the Decanter.

It’s in a beautiful pale pink glass, with many bands of gold and silver gilt over the whole sphere, accentuating the lovely shape. There are no markings, stamps or stickers on the base to identify the maker, but I have found one online with the sticker intact and attributing it to Irice, Czechoslovakia. Irving W. Rice Co. was a US company founded in 1905 which imported glassware such as perfume bottles, decanters, barware vases and other table crystal items, from Czechoslovakia, under the brand name Irice. They are still in business today, although this piece dates to the mid century.

The bottle and stopper are both in very good vintage condition with no chips or cracks, just some minor ware to the gilt, as to be expected for a piece of this age. It stands roughly 7.5 inches/ 19cm tall and is about 4.5 inches/11.5 cm at the widest point.

I don’t have matching glasses, but I do display it in my glassware cabinet with some other similar glasses, which I will also be listing shortly, see the last couple of photos.

So very Mad Men, the epitome of Mid-Century Modern flair, these would be an ideal addition to any MCM/Retro loving home cocktail bar.

Would also be fabulous in a bathroom setting where is could be used to hold liquid hand soap or cologne.
