Fabulous Tall Hand-Built Studio Pottery Vase in a Textured Stoneware Clay with an Organic Asymmetric Shape, Hand Made, A Piece of Sculptural Art, But Unknown Maker

I am continuing my effort to downsize as unfortunately we will have to move all our belongings into temporary storage due to builders carrying out major remediation works to our brand new home.

I’m trying to minimize the pain by reducing the amount of packing required to be done and reducing the amount of belongings going into storage.

I have a few art-pottery vases that I am willing to sell, in advance of packing up for storage.

For sale here is a Fabulous Tall Hand-Built Studio Pottery Vase in a Textured Stoneware Clay with an Organic Asymmetric Shape, Hand Made, A Piece of Sculptural Art, But Unknown Maker

This is a beautiful and unusual organic shaped vase with a fabulous abstract and organic shaped opening reminiscent of a dinosaur egg that has been cracked open.

It is hand built in a stoneware clay, which has then been fired at high temperature to achieve a rustic textural sandy finish without a glaze. The exterior is sandy in colour with areas of reddish and darker clay near the top. The interior is black but also unglazed. There are no markings on the base so I cannot identify the potter.

The vase is more a piece of sculptural art, rather than a functioning vase, due to the unglazed nature, but it could be used to hold dried flowers or grasses.

The piece is in very good condition with no cracks but there are some rough areas on the rim, which may include some chips, but as is matches the style of the piece, it doesn’t take away from the aesthetic. The piece stands approx. 9 inches/ 23 cm tall. It’s just over 2 inches/ 5cm in diameter at the base and 6 inches/ 15cm in diameter at the widest point.
