I am continuing my effort to downsize, as I unfortunately had to replace the engine in the family car! I'm making progress but more items need to go! This is a reluctant sale, but I am trying to reduce the number of Royal Albert Patterns I am collecting, and I am focusing on the earlier Art Deco period patterns.

The history of Royal Albert stretches back over 100 years. While the Royal Albert brand was created in 1904, its roots are found in the Albert Works, built in 1896. The Albert Works commemorated the birth of Prince Albert in 1895, who was named in memory of his great-grandfather, the most famous of Victorian Alberts.
The Albert Works was owned by Thomas Wild and his sons who specialised in tea, breakfast and dessert pieces with floral designs. They built up a fabulous reputation of producing beautiful china tea & breakfast sets and firmly established the Royal Albert name. English fine bone china was always admired for its lightness, translucency and its soft subtle almost pearly white quality. Much approved of by the tea-party hostesses of the nineteenth and early twentieth century.

Old Country Roses is their most popular and enduring pattern, but I prefer the subtlety of this "Braemar" Pattern, with it’s pine needle foliage fronds and golden pine cones, all accentuated by a bone white china with delicate pink saucer centres and cup interiors, and hand-painted gilt to the handles, feet and rims.

This 15 Piece set consists of
Six cups (Demi Tasse size, I think)
Six saucers
Small Milk Creamer,
Small Open Sugar Bowl
Coffee Pot.

This stunning set is in very excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks or crazing, except one cup has a pair of tiny fleabites as photographed. This has been taken into account when pricing.

The coffee pot stand about 8.25 inches/ 21 cm tall and measures roughly 8 inches/ 20.5 cm from spout to handle. The milk creamer stands 3.5 inches/ 9 cm tall, and the sugar bowl is just over 2 inches/ 5 cm tall. The saucers are 4.75 inches/ 12.5 cm in diameter and the cups stand just under 3.75 inches/7 cm in height. So for small coffees such as demi tasse or espresso.

This is such a fabulous and quite rare set, and lovely to have the full coffee set including the Coffee pot.

It would make a fabulous present for any Royal Albert Bone China collector, especially one wanting to branch out into the more unusual patterns.
