A possible impending house move has forced me into evaluating all the contents of my attic and home and some items will have to go, in my effort to downsize. I'm making progress but more items need to go! This stunning piece of Blue and White Ironstone is the next item on my list. It’s a beautiful and rare piece, so I will not be accepting any low-ball offers on this!

A Fabulous Large Antique Blue and White Tray with Moulded Side Handles, by Wedgwood & Co Ltd in the Beautiful “Hague” Pattern Circa 1900-1920.

The main motif on this stunning piece is of a Dutch man, woman and little girl in traditional costume on a pier with sailboats and a windmill in the background. The border is embellished with sailboat scenes and windmill scenes. The moulded side handles feature an acanthus leaf design which is continued around the edge of the tray.
The Backstamp reads Wedgwood & Co Ltd England Hague and there are impressed numbers which I’m sure accurately date the piece, and I think date it to 1910 but I haven’t been able to confirm. Based on internet research and the backstamp details, this piece dates to between 1900 and 1920 anyway, so definitely an Antique (over 100 years old) piece!

The tray measures 17.5 inches/ 45cm by 7.5 inches/ 19.5cm.

This tray is in very good Antique condition with no chips or cracks. There is some crazing and discoloration on the front and back due to the age of the piece and I have photographed this.

The tray can be used as a sandwich tray, but it is quite a bit larger than the traditional rectangular sandwich trays available from, say, Royal Albert. I have used it to carry a couple of cups of tea, with a small teapot, jug and sugar bowl, on occasion.
I have photographed it with some items of Royal Doulton “Norfolk” to give you a sense of this use. The pattern is nicely complimentary, as the motifs are a similar Dutch theme, and I may have some items of Royal Doulton “ Norfolk” for sale shortly, so keep an eye out!

This is a quality antique piece in good condition, to purchase the same from Replacements.com would cost $279 plus shipping!! Even Ebay would be $124 plus shipping, (and that’s for an example with condition issues). So, this is very reasonably priced.

This would be a fabulous gift for someone who is of Dutch heritage, a collector of Antique Blue & White Transferware or someone who serves lots of sandwiches.
A really fantastic find for the person who is all three!!!!
