I am continuing my downsizing of my collections, and I am now moving on to some Kitchenalia, mainly some ironstone jelly/blancmange moulds, that are very decorative and highly collectable, but now surplus to my requirements.

The first one for sale is a Fabulous Antique Early Victorian Heavy Ironstone Jelly/Blancmange Mould, Oval in Shape, Plain on the Outside, Highly Decorative on the Inside, Unknown Maker, Circa 1850

This is an early example of a Ceramic/Ironstone Jelly Mould, or Blancmange Mould from the early Victorian period. It is plain on the outside, not showing any hint of the wonderful sculptural design on the interior, which is only visible when the jelly is unmoulded, or the mould is displayed maybe on its side.

Later ceramic/ironstone examples, such as the extremely popular and collectable Shelley Jelly Moulds, show the shape and intricate design on the outside as well as the inside, and thus were much more visibly appealing and apparently easier to unmould! I will have a couple of those also.

Back to this example though!
This oval shaped mould stands just under 4.75 inches/ 12 cm tall and 6.75 inches/ 17cm by 5 inches/ 12.5 cm at the rim. It is slightly wonky in shape, another nod to its age.

The Mould is in excellent Antique Condition with no chips or cracks, but there is some age-related crazing as would be expected on a piece of this age. There is no makers impressed or printed mark, just an impressed no. 7 on the base, so I cannot advise of the maker.

A lovely piece of Antique Kitchenalia, perfect for display on a kitchen dresser, especially on its side, so the wonderful interior design is visible.

Would look great on display in a food establishment also, such as a café, coffee shop, bistro or restaurant.

Check out my other ads and more coming soon! I will have two Shelley Jelly Moulds coming up.
I already have some metal moulds already listed, and I also plan to list my glass jelly moulds shortly.
