Delightful Rare and Complete Carlton Ware Saladware Egg Cup Cruet Set in the Embossed Apple Blossom Pattern, Yellow Colourway, Circa 1938

A possible impending house move has forced me into evaluating all the contents of my attic and some items will have to go, in my effort to downsize. I'm making progress but more items need to go!
I’ve quite a few eclectic pieces which will be going as they are not really part of my main collections but were just items that I was attracted to. They still bring me joy, but something needs to go!!!

For sale here, is a Delightful Rare and Complete Carlton Ware Saladware Egg Cup Cruet Set in the Embossed Apple Blossom Pattern, Yellow Colourway, Circa 1938

Dating to the late 1930s is this fabulous hand-painted egg cup and cruet set by Carlton Ware. Included is a base dish, four egg cups, a salt cruet, and a pepper cruet.

The base dish is in the shape of leaves with hand painted apple blossoms and impressions to take the four egg cups, salt and pepper.
The eggs cups are shaped like overlapping leaves, as air the salt and pepper cruets, although these also have hand-painted apple blossoms.

Marked to the base with Carlton Ware England, in the earlier script backstamp, and the mould number is 1701.

APPLE BLOSSOM, was part of Carlton Ware's extensive SALAD WARE range, was available in two colours, yellow and green, the yellow being the much rarer of the two. During and for a short time after World War Two, it was also produced undecorated apart from a plain coloured ground. It was the most popular of all Carlton Ware's ranges and hence the largest number of different items were produced. Imagine owning them all!!!

A rare item to find, with no missing pieces; there seem to be even fewer yellow ones around than the green colourway. Complete with four egg cups, salt and pepper

Condition wise, it is in excellent vintage condition with no chips or cracks or any paintwork loss, apart from a couple of minor flea-bites on the rim of an egg cup, (see the final photo). The paintwork is vibrant and glossy. Original stoppers are on both the salt and pepper cruets, although some damage to one, and a replacement stoppers may be wise, if you are planning on using the cruets.

It is rare to find in this condition, especially with no missing pieces!!
Online, you would be lucky to find a complete set for under €100 ex shipping and customs, and you could pay up to €160 for a yellow colourway example.
