Collector's house of the Dutch airline KLM
A collectible house from the Dutch airline KLM, number 12, made of Delftware by the Bols Distillery.
The inscription "Empty due to Customs regulations on this route" indicates that this particular miniature was issued to the passenger without its traditional content, which is Dutch juniper (Bols Genever spirit).
KLM provides these houses to business class passengers. On routes to countries with partial or complete bans on the import or consumption of alcohol (primarily Middle Eastern countries), the houses are factory-empty.
Stringent controls at some destination airports force airlines to issue versions without the liquid. This prevents confiscation of souvenirs during transfers or customs.
Each KLM miniature depicts a real, historic building in the Netherlands. Number 12 represents a traditional townhouse located at Zandhoek 3-4 in Amsterdam.
