Vintage 1950s Japanese Royal Satsuma Dragon Teapot - Heavy Moriage - 621g
Description:
For sale is a truly spectacular, highly decorative vintage porcelain teapot executed in the iconic Japanese "Royal Satsuma" style, dating back to circa 1950s.
Features a dramatic spout modeled as a rising golden dragon head and a coiled dragon lid finial. The body is richly hand-decorated with scenes of the Immortal Sages (Arhats) using the heavy, three-dimensional "Moriage" raised enamel and gold technique. The base features an authentic gold-gilded rectangular Japanese maker's mark and a tight vintage crazing pattern.
PLEASE NOTE: There is a chip and a black maker's mark on the inner upper rim of the teapot body (shown in the internal close-up photos). However, as seen in the main photos, this is completely 100% hidden from view when the lid is fully on. It displays as an absolutely perfect, flawless piece on a shelf.
