The beautiful coffee (or tea) cups and saucers are made from high quality white porcelain. The design is in red, and depicts many scenes from Rüdesheim: there is one scene on the saucers, and three scenes on the cups. The cups also have the words: "Rüdesheim am Rhine, anno 1860, die Vaterstadt des Asbach Uralt". Loosely translated, Rüdesheim on the Rhine River, the town in which Asbach (wine co.) was founded". The wine company was founded in the 1890s, and is still well known today.

These large and lovely porcelain coffee cup and saucer sets are designed to serve up a big mug of Rüdesheimer Kaffee - a delightful and somewhat alcoholic coffee beverage made with Asbach wine or cognac.
It is for a German version of the Irish Coffee, made with Asbach German Wine Brandy
This bracing coffee treat is served with a dollop of cream, and is known to visitors to the lovely town Rudesheim / Rüdesheim, Germany, or to those who have visited nearby towns along the Rhine River.
