Bjorn Wiinblad Rosenthal plates
This set of 4 wall plates was designed for Rosenthal, Germany by multi-talented Danish artist Bjorn Wiinblad (1918-2006). Wiinblad is known for his distinctive whimsical style and these highly collectible plates are lovely examples of his work.
These collector´s plates are titled "Aladdin and the magic lamp" - a fairy tale from 1001 Nights illustrating the story of Aladdin, fortune´s favorite. He is one of the best-known figures in the collection of stories in “The Thousand and One Nights”, who discovers the world´s greatest treasure and emerges unscathed from even the most perilous situations.
The Thousand and One Nights or Arabian Nights, is a collection of Middle Eastern and South Asian folk tales that were originally published together during the Islamic Golden Age in the seventeenth century. Bjørn Wiinblad tells the story of Alladin in masterly fashion in these plates.
Each image is decorated in saturated jewel tones on a glossy cobalt blue ground with gilt highlights. The back has the artist's signature. This gorgeous set makes a rich, exceptional display and the jewel tones display beautifully. A striking vintage find!-------and future family heirloom.
In excellent condition with no chips cracks or repairs and the gilt accents are bright and shiny. This set includes plate no.1 to IV.
