I am continuing my effort to downsize, as I unfortunately have to replace the engine in the family car! I'm making progress but more items need to go!

A beautiful piece of Masons pottery in their popular and collectable "Regency" pattern.

This is a lovely fresh floral pattern and less fussy than some of the Masons patterns. The transfer print is a bright blue with blue, yellow, green and red hand painted elements. This pattern was also sold under the name ‘Plantation Colonial’ for the US and Canadian markets.

Mason’s were a family of potters trading from circa 1800 to circa 1854, where they were taken over by Messrs. G L Ashworth & Bros in 1861 (they continued to use the Mason’s printed marks and also their molds and patterns). It became part of the Wedgwood group in 1978 and continued until production ceased in 1997.
Charles James Mason patented Ironstone in 1813, making the company a fortune. Ironstone was developed as a cheaper, mass-produced and more durable alternative to porcelain.

For sale here is a Beautiful Individual Gravy Boat and Matching Underplate in very good vintage condition with no chips, cracks, or pattern loss. There is some age-related crazing, and the gravy boat has some discolouration from use on the inside, as photographed for accuracy, and taken into account when pricing.
This unusual individual-sized gravy or sauce boat is so cute measuring about 5.5 inches/ 14 cm from spout to handle and stands 2.75 inches/7 cm in height. The matching individual underplate, measures 5.75 inches/14.5 cm by 4 inches/10 cm.
So rare a size, there is not a similar set of these currently available on Replacements.com, but they do have just the individual gravy boat without the underplate and that would cost $119.95 plus post & packing, so a fair price is being asked here!

The back stamp reads MASON’S PATENT IRONSTONE CHINA “Regency” ENGLAND, with a crown and banner and the registered number: C 4475 821349 and “Guaranteed Detergent Proof & Acid Resisting Colours”. The backstamps are a bit of a minefield, but according to my research the backstamp dates the piece to post 1940 and pre 1950.

A lovely Christmas present for a collector of Regency or a well-priced gift for any Mason’s lover!

Perfect for a dinner party when one guest requires a different sauce/gravy to others (Vegan or Gluten-free etc.) I’ll have a full sized set available shortly too. See the last photo for a size comparision beween the two sets.

I'll have other Masons Regency items coming shortly. I will have other sized dinner service plates available in set of six, if you are building a dinner service. And some more unusual items too.

Check out my other items and more coming soon! Discounts possible for multiple purchases!
