Beautiful Hand-Blown and Signed Glass Vase, By Mtarfa Glass, Malta, in Excellent Condition
My Covid Clearout continues and I have moved onto my Studio Art Glass collection
This is a beautiful glass vase, by the Maltese Glass Studio called Mtarfa.
Mtarfa Glass Studio was founded in Malta in 1979, by Paul Said (brother of Joseph Said of Mdina Glass, the other famous Maltese Glass studio). Both brothers were trained under Michael Harris at Mdina glass. Mtarfa glass rebranded as Valetta Glass in 1999, and is still produced today. As the base of this glass features the original incised Mtarfa signature, and the original Mtarfa black sticker is also still intact, this dates the piece to between 1979 and 1999.
The colours are pale pink, dark pink and black and the patterning is exquisite.
It is a medium bud or posy vase I suppose, with a beautiful fluted top, although I only had it on display. It measures roughly 5 inches/ 12.5 cm in height and is roughly 4.5 inches/ 11.5 cm at it’s widest point.
The vase is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, and it is heavy for its size, a quality piece.
An interior decorator’s piece, it would be lovely as part of a display of items with a similar colour theme. Or maybe you collect glass, and this would fit your collection nicely.
I have a number of other Maltese Glass pieces ( Mtarfa and Mdina) which I will also be putting up for sale, check out the last couple of photos and my upcoming ads.
