Antique Petrus Regout Blue Flow Ware Kong Pattern Plate
The P. Regut stamp mark dates between 1836 and 1880.
The Royal Sphinx factory was established by Petrus Regout in 1834 and was located in Maastricht. Production standards gradually improved with the hiring of a British specialists. The Sphinx printed stamp started to be used in 1879, so this piece predates that. The factory was bought in 1999 by the Finnish company Sanitec, all production was moved to the Sanitec Plant in 2010 and the Maastricht plant was closed.
The plates were clamped in 3 places to separate them duriing manufacture and there are marks on the plate, 3 on the front and 9 on the back, to reflect this and can be seen in the photos.
This piece is keenly priced compared to other sites.
