Antique Keeling Ivory blush bowl

Antique Keeling Ivory blush bowl Antique Keeling Ivory blush bowl Ceramics

This is a wonderful antique Keeling & company, Late Mayers blush pottery twin handled bowl. It is decorated with a handfinished floral pattern on a blush ground with hints of peach and green with a scalloped rim and an embossed pattern on the sides. Keeling & Co. (1886/1936) were earthenware manufacturers at the Dale Hall Works, Stoke-on-Trent. Dale Hall was founded in 1790 by Joseph Stubbs and passed eventually to the firm Keeling & Co. (Ltd.)

The bowl is backstamped with K & Co. Late Mayer 1790. If you have a piece of pottery with this date "1790" printed on the bottom, then one thing you can be sure of - it was not made in 1790. The earliest date it can be is 1870. It was not unusual for potters to try to establish an early date, to try to give their ware some sense of history and value. The wording "LATE MAYERS" refers to Thomas, John & Joshua Mayer who operated from 1843.

It would be an amazing addition to any Antique blush pottery Collection. It is perfect to hold your indoor plants or to arrange a lovely fresh or dried floral composition of your own. It is very decorative and would make a gorgeous table centrepiece even on it's own.

In good antique condition free from any chips or cracks and with just very light age crazing and a little normal loss of gilding. A stylish antique that displays really well.
