For sale is a vintage medium sized toby jug made by Shaw & Copestake Ltd (Sylvac).
Shaw & Copesteak Ltd was established in 1873 by William Shaw and William Copesteak and manufactured a wide range of pottery at their Sylvan Works in Longton. Their tradename SylvaC was derived from a combination of the works place, S for Shaw and C for Copesteak. Due to increasing financial difficulties, the company's fortunes declined and went into voluntary liquidation in May of 1982.

DESCRIPTION:
Size: about 5 1/4" height (132mm).
Finish: hand-painted in various colours.
Material(s): slip-cast white earthenware.
Imprint: SYLVAC STAFFORDSHIRE (SEE PHOTOS). The mould number 4402 is impressed into the base also.
Weight (excluding transit packaging): about 260g
Approximate age: c.1966 to 1982.
CONDITION:
Excellent condition overall. No damage.
