Seiko Galante Spring Drive GMT
Up for sale is the Seiko Galante SBLA005, from Seiko's most flamboyant luxury line, launched in 2005 and sold only through Seiko's Master Shops in Japan. This particular example dates from 2010 and carries its original ¥546,000 price tag - about €4,690 at the 2010 exchange rate.
The case is unlike anything else Seiko made. A 43mm × 16.6mm stainless steel body held together by the four iconic cylindrical columns screwed into the back plate - pure Galante signature, finished to a very high standard. Sapphire on both sides, a flat front crystal and a display caseback showing off the movement.
Inside beats the Calibre 5R66 Spring Drive. Not quartz, not purely mechanical - a hybrid that runs on a mainspring and automatic winding rotor, but uses a quartz-regulated electromagnetic brake instead of an escapement. The result: a seconds hand that glides instead of ticks, and accuracy of ±1 second per day - verified after its last service. It hand-winds too, with a 72-hour power reserve, an inner GMT 24-hour hand, a date at 3 o'clock, and a power reserve indicator at 7.
The dial is the Galante take on black-tie, silver with black Roman numerals, faceted hands, and the curved "katana" seconds hand sweeping effortlessly around.
This watch comes with its original box, papers and everything it left the store with in 2010.
Comes with two original straps, both with their original clasps. The black alligator leather strap (with deployant clasp), and a Galante rubber strap for everyday wear.
Serviced and ready to go. The watch was last serviced in February 2023 and since then has kept an accuracy of ±1 second per day, right on Spring Drive's rated spec.

Hi there! I’m a long-time watch enthusiast and collector with over 20 years of experience in the hobby. I’m mainly into Japanese watches: Grand Seiko, high-end Seiko, Casio Oceanus — basically anything that offers great value and proper watchmaking without the silly price tags. I like watches that punch above their weight, and that’s exactly the type I tend to buy, wear, and sell.
Every watch I sell is carefully inspected and photographed by me. I take pride in showing the watch honestly — no hidden marks, no stock photos, no surprises. What you see in the pictures is exactly what you’ll receive.
I’m based in Lixnaw, Co. Kerry and have built a solid track record here on Adverts.ie for being straightforward, reliable, and easy to deal with. I don’t entertain lowballing, as my prices are already fair. Lowballers and other 'exotic offer' experts, please ignore this sale.
And just to be fully clear: I’m not looking for swaps or part exchanges. I prefer straight cash sales only.
All my watches are graded using my standardised condition scale:
N (New) — unworn condition. Typically includes full set (box, papers, tags).
S (Like New) — almost indistinguishable from new. No visible scratches or marks. Crystal and case flawless.
A (Excellent) — Lightly worn with minimal signs of use. Minor hairline scratches visible only on close inspection.
V (Very good) — Gently used with only minor signs of use; the crystal may carry minor traces consistent with normal wear, but they do not stand out. Overall condition remains clean and attractive.
B (Good) — Regularly worn with moderate signs of use. Noticeable scratches on case or bracelet; crystal may have faint marks but remains in good condition.
C (Fair) — Clearly worn with pronounced scratches, dings, or crystal marks. Functional but cosmetic wear is obvious; may benefit from servicing.
Cheers!
Jake
