Egyptian kilim rug large red and white handmade
I bought this rug in Esna in Egypt around a decade ago. It's a kilim, a type of handwoven rug made by Bedouin people. It's made primarily of red, navy, and white wool, woven in long narrow strips, which are then sewn together, so the ends are uneven.
No two of these rugs are the same.
The longish braided cords you see at one end are woven in, so that you have something to tie the rug with when you roll it up, sling it on your camel, and move your tent. :)
Approximate measurements 10' 8" x 7' 8", which is about 3.25m x 2.30m in metric. It is large and heavy so you will probably need a car (or a trusty camel) to get this rug home.
