Selling my Prius after 3 years of ownership, only because I’m upgrading to a newer-generation Prius.
It’s been a brilliant and very reliable family car and has never let us down. The mileage is mainly down to my long commute to work and regular family trips, so a lot of it has been longer-distance driving.
I’ve always looked after the car properly and never cut corners when it comes to servicing or maintenance. If something needed doing, I got it done rather than waiting for it to become a bigger problem.
The car has been regularly serviced using the correct 0W-20 oil, bought directly from Toyota, and I’ve always used genuine or good-quality parts and the correct fluids.
A lot of money has been spent on maintenance during my ownership, including:
• High-voltage hybrid battery replaced around 1.5 years ago
• Steering rack recently replaced
• Genuine Toyota water pump fitted
• EGR system cleaned
• Front shock absorbers replaced
• Front brake discs and pads replaced
• Rear brake pads replaced
• Gearbox oil changed
• Brake fluid changed
• Coolant changed
• Regular servicing with 0W-20 oil bought from Toyota
• Upgraded Android multimedia system fitted with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, Google Maps and steering wheel controls
The car drives very well and has been maintained with reliability in mind. A lot of the bigger and more expensive maintenance has already been taken care of.
Just to be completely upfront: the steering shaft currently needs replacing. The replacement part is only around €55 and it’s a very straightforward job, roughly 10 minutes to fit. I simply haven’t had the time to get around to doing it before selling.
As you’d expect with a 2012 car, there are a few small scratches and normal age-related cosmetic marks here and there. It’s not a new car and I’d rather be completely honest about that from the start.
Mechanically, the car has been very well looked after.
Long NCT until 31/08/2027.
Very economical, comfortable and practical. It’s been a genuinely great car for myself and my family and I’ll be sorry to see it go.
The only reason for sale is that I’m upgrading to a newer Prius.
Genuine private sale.
