This 2014 Triumph Thruxton, with 7,600km, finished in Brooklands Green, is absolutely spotless. It was imported from the UK in 2019, full VAT and VRT has been paid on reregistration.

This near perfect example of a modern classic—well kept, always indoors, thoughtfully upgraded, and from the final era of Triumph’s air-cooled, carburetted twins. This bike represents a genuine piece of heritage. These bikes are no longer produced in this form, and the twin carburettor setup in particular marks it out as part of a now-closed chapter in Triumph’s engineering.

At its core is the 865cc air-cooled parallel twin, fed by twin carburettors rather than fuel injection. This bike is a treat for mechanically minded riders. The carb setup gives a more direct, analogue feel to throttle response, perfectly balanced. The twin carbs are a simpler, more hands-on system, and increasingly rare on modern motorcycles. Combined with the engine’s proven durability, it makes this machine both engaging and straightforward to maintain.

On the road, the engine delivers strong, usable mid-range torque and a clean pull through the revs. It’s comfortable and stable at the tonne. The rear cowling can be removed for a pillion passenger if you happen to have a legend of a partner who would like to go cruising in the summer sunshine.

The aftermarket exhaust pipes are a standout feature and suit the bike exceptionally well. They unlock a deeper, more purposeful tone than the standard system. At idle there’s a steady, confident pulse, and as the revs rise it builds into a harder, more aggressive growl. The sound carries a distinct character, like a Spitfire’s Merlin engine under bridges.

The handlebar-end mirrors are a clean and functional upgrade. They reduce clutter around the bars and offer improved rearward visibility. They also subtly change the feel at the controls, giving a slightly wider, more planted stance that adds confidence, particularly at lower speeds and in tighter situations.

A particularly appealing addition is the engine pressure gauge. It’s a proper enthusiast’s detail—providing real-time oil pressure information and allowing you to keep a closer eye on the engine’s condition.

The upgraded indicators are a smaller change but suit it very well. They’re more compact than the originals and integrate neatly with the bike’s lines, keeping the overall look clean while still being clearly visible.

It has also been rigged for a trickle charger in case you are terrified of bringing it out in the rain. There are a couple of boxes of spare accessories that can go with the bike and an extensive documented history of the bike.

In terms of ride, the Thruxton offers a powerful and engaging experience. The riding position is classic racing without being extreme, and the chassis provides a stable, well-connected feel through corners. It’s the kind of bike that loves smooth powerful riding and gives consistent feedback.

Braking is progressive and dependable, well matched to the bike’s performance and character, with good feel at the lever.

Overall, this is a well-sorted Thruxton that stays true to what makes these bikes appealing. The combination of twin carburettors, air-cooled engine, and classic café racer styling places it firmly in the category of a heritage motorcycle—this bike is from another age, one before electronics and fuel injection.

It’s a bike for someone who values mechanical simplicity, classic engineering, and a riding experience that feels exhilarating and authentic.
