2003 Honda Hornet 600
2003 Honda Hornet 600, 48.3k miles.
I've owned this bike for about 4 years now although it hasn't done much driving in the last few years.. it was always stored underground in a car park until a few months ago..
The bike was fully serviced in 2024, less than 1200km on it since. Along with the service the front end was replaced and parts sourced from another Hornet for breaking. No leaky seals and also New Pirelli Angel Tyres were fitted. They've still 90% thread on them..
- Crash bobbins
- Rental wide bars
- Adjustable clutch and brake levers
- Manual cam chain tensioner
It was used as a commuter and very little for leisure. It never missed a beat once apart from a clutch cable snapping and that was replaced by Ed the motorbike doctor in Pearse street start of 2025, he also adjusted the chain slack then and said sprockets still had good life left on them no need to replace yet. It hasn't done even 500km since.
New battery fitted last week. Was washed and cleaned at the same time and I'll get to cleaning the chain in the next few days.
Bad points which is mostly TLC related:
- Fan is not kicking in, I just noticed this the other day after taking it for it's first spin in months. Not sure why it ain't working all of a sudden
- Manifold would probably need replacing in the next few thousand KM's.
- Neutral sensor is acting up at times, the underneath needs a clean and degreasing
- Sprockets could do with a good clean
- Possibly the front caliper pistons needs a clean and to be greased, I dont think the piston is fully retracting, when driving it the other day I noticed the bike was slowing down while rolling quicker than usual, could possibly be the rear disc needs replacement
- front pads will need to changed soon
- windshield cracked at mounting point
- could do with rear pillion pegs replaced
It's a 23 year old bike. It's not in showroom condition, they're is marks around the fairings. The tank is straight no dents at all. It was my workhorse and mode of transport when I was working on sites. I enjoyed every moment of ownership it's a great bike with good power 97hp and delkevic exhaust which sounds nice. I've recent walk around videos of it running.
