Vintage Camping stove
The original advert for the speedikook Instant Lighting single burner gasoline camp stove described it as a “quality” product which held one quart of “white” gasoline, sufficient for 7-9 hours operation. It has a grey iron burner casting with a high heat resisting non rusting aluminium finish, a quick heating non-rusting brass generator tube and a stainless steel needle. Non clogging burner it said, a separate filler plug and a built in lock-type pump check.
Someone took the trouble to make a fitted box for this one out of an old packing crate (or fruit box) which seems to have travelled from South Africa to Dublin, presumably by ship. It’s product number is 6905 which would date it around 1951 I believe. There are a few extra bits in the box including a steel bottle which appears to have come with a Primus stove. It needs a good cleaning but intact otherwise, some surface rust on the chromed bowl.
