Cosy Volkswagen Caddy Maxi Camper
2013 Volkswagen Caddy Maxi
Selling as I am getting a bigger van to convert.
----------
Maintenance and Condition:
- 303,000 km (I still use the van so this will increase)
- Formerly owned by LeasePlan who leased it to Virgin Media so it was always serviced and maintained on time. I’m the second owner.
- Full service and maintenance history from brand new - LeasePlan maintenance log + my own maintenance log + receipts since I've owned it.
- Full detailed maintenance history from LeasePlan while they owned it showing everything replaced and service log
- I have a digital copy of this and can share it with serious potential buyers to review.
- Serviced with main VW dealer since my ownership
- Service booked May 7th with Sweeneys (VW is too expensive nowadays). Van will be sold with a fresh full service.
- Few scratches, scuffs, chips etc. on the paint but all just aesthetic damage
- Rough on the outside but it’s what’s inside that matters
In the past couple of years some big items were done which won't need doing for another few years:
- DPF and EGR cleaned professionally
- Injector fixings/seals replaced and 1x new injector + 3x existing injectors professionally reconditioned after a known fault with the Caddy recently where injector fixing broke.
- Clutch master cylinder replaced
These issues has only happened once in the 100,000 km / 5 years I've had the van and shouldn't need to be done again for a while (but long motorway drives are required to keep the DPF and EGR clean as with any modern diesel engine)
Some highlights from the LeasePlan maintenance log:
- Gearbox @ 208k
- Timing belt + pump @ 187k (so should be good for another 90k or so)
- Accelerator, Fuel Tank & Pump @ 203k
- Clutch & Controls @ 153k
(Note: The LeasePlan log doesn't provide specific details of what was done for each of the above so I don't know exactly what "Clutch and Controls" covered)
What needs attention:
- There is some dampness in the passenger side floor. I'm not sure where water is coming in from but likely a simple fix to do with the seals and/or door drains.
- Wheel/tracking needs alignment - I am getting that done in the coming days.

CVRT, Tax, Registration:
- Registered as commercial, private tax. Easy to switch back to commercial tax if you want
- Not down as a camper on logbook as doesn’t meet all criteria but could be fully converted and registered as a camper as others have done it for caddys
- The panelling and furniture could be easily stripped out so the van can be used as a work van again. Just screws holding everything in.
- CVRT is due in July. If it's not sold by then I'll put it through.
- Will be sold taxed for maximum 3 months as I still drive the van.
---------
Specs, Info, Features:
- Basic spec van (roll down windows, no A/C)
- 115Ah Leisure battery lasts very long time and is charged when van is running so never goes dead if used with light loads. I've charged my macbook and phone multiple times with it.
- 3 Touch sensitive LED lights
- USB charging ports and 12V socket
- Electrics can be completely and safely isolated with the isolators so you can completely disconnect leisure power e.g. if leaving the van for a long time
- Memory foam cushions, custom made
- Bed is almost size of a small double bed, comfortably sleeps two
- plenty of storage space
- Fully insulated using quality insulation and sound deadening material applied to steel panels
- Fairy lights included
- Galvanised roof rack with roller - very handy especially for kayaks, surf boards, etc. - makes it very easy to load a kayak on the roof by yourself.
