Beautifully made flute from 19th century. Strong sweet tone from ebony wood. Ideal for traditional Irish music, A = 440hz with slide extended 12mm. Fully lined head joint. New custom made case. Full refund is buyer is not satisfied. This flute shows signs of age but the flute has been fully reconditioned with new pads, threaded joints and cork. Cracks have been repaired and flute is playing perfectly. The quality of the workmanship and the strong tone is the reason the flute has survived 150 years.

@okennedy the flute is light and easy to play. The finger holes are small compared with modern flutes, so ideal for small hands. To ideally match a player with a flute , you have to try it out. Which is why I give full refund if flute is not suitable. I have vintage flutes of all types and budgets in my collection, and you’re welcome to come and try them out. This flute has 4 keys , which strictly speaking are not necessary for beginner. Buyer has option to have key holes plugged, plugs can easily be removed as player improves. Short answer. Flute is suitable for beginner.

Hello! This flute looks, and sounds (from your video!), really lovely! A question from a total newbie to the flute world, on behalf of our 11 year old daughter who has just started playing this summer: would a flute like this be a good choice for a new young learner? I love the idea of buying one like this, with some history and provenance, rather than a cheap off the shelf one … but if it’s harder to play, I don’t want to dampen the enthusiasm of our new learner either :) thank you!
