Irish Fute

Irish Fute Irish Fute Brass & Wind Instruments

Flute for sale. Readvertised Price €750.
Simple system Irish flute, Key D. There are 5 keys. The flute was made by Dessie Seery using a material he called Delrin. It is practically indistinguishable from the common wooden flute in both appearance and sound but Delrin is not known to crack or warp which can be a problem with wooden flutes. The keys look like silver but it is not known whether they are solid silver. Dessie did say that because they are silver, if they take a knock they can simply be bent back to original shape by hand (taking care not to strain the pivot pins etc).
This is a good instrument which should easily last a lifetime. Available in Dublin 7 area.
Reason for sale is that I changed to the classical boehm system flute and no longer have any use for an Irish style flute.

Thanks for the tip Lamemac. Ok Eamon I’ll put an offer of €100 on and then hopefully we can chat off line.

I’m watching this flute, to assist anyone involved - if you accept a €1 offer it’s assumed that is for purposes of private conversation between the seller and the potential buyer

@clairemariaanne: Hi Claire. I also would be wary but it seems to be the way the site works. I think all our communications are public until an offer is made., that is something to be wary of also. If you do make an offer, I will accept it as subject to your being satisfied when you see it and try it out. I could also withdraw my acceptance if something arises in the process (for example if anything seems suspicious). This is a possible way forward. Do you see a better one?

Eamon, I’m wary of putting an offer on the flute before I see it/try it out.

@steenr:
Yes. It is the same flute but the 4th part has been sold separately

@clairemariaanne: Hi Claire. I think that if you make an offer and I accept it, that then we could talk outside of this site. I had problems with a wooden flute cracking and that is why I bought this delrin flute. Sorry to hear that your flute is giving some problem. You could consider having it repaired but it may or may not be worth it.

If you could come as far as Ennis that would be amazing. We could have a chat off line but I am genuine! Currently playing. 17century flute but it’s gradually failing me, so on the lookout for something more reliable.

@clairemariaanne: Yes Have a think. There is a possibility that I could travel to Ennis but I would need to feel that you are sincere - I do not mean committed to buy, but not a scam or a messer.

Thanks Eamon. I’m based in county Clare, so it’s a long way to travel but I’ll have a think.

@clairemariaanne: Yes it is a good flute and immediately playable without any maintenance. A little cork grease (supplied) should be put on the corks when assembling particularly the bottom joint which is fairly new (or at least not much used since it was fitted).
